Job Title: Rolling Mill Setter / Operator
Location: Redditch
Salary: £27040 – £32240 per hour (depending on experience)
Hours: Full-Time, Monday – Friday (08:00 – 16:30, Friday finish at 15:00)
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Rolling Mill Setter / Operator to join a well-established manufacturing company in Redditch. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in a highly specialised and rewarding sector.
The role involves setting and operating rolling mills and slitting (shearing) machines, along with loading furnaces in a busy, hands-on factory environment. While experience in the field is beneficial, full training will be provided for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
Set and operate rolling mills and slitting/shearing machines.
Load furnaces and handle materials safely and efficiently.
Work effectively within a team and follow production schedules.
Maintain high standards of quality and attention to detail.
Ensure safety and cleanliness in the working area.
Willingness to work overtime when required (after 16:30 or Saturday mornings).
Essential Requirements:
Minimum GCSE Grade C / Level 4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
Strong mechanical aptitude – will be assessed at interview.
Competent with Microsoft Word and Excel (Excel and Maths test included at interview).
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physical manufacturing environment.
Seeking a long-term career (training programme is 6–12 months).
Desirable Skills & Experience:
Previous experience in the metal industry.
Experience working with strip/coiled metal.
Apprentice-trained background.
Prior experience with rolling mills or slitting machines.
Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP.
Valid Forklift Truck licence.
Full UK driving licence.
Strong local ties (within 10 miles of Redditch preferred).
