Materials Controller

As a Materials Controller you will be responsible for facilitating the purchasing and replenishment of stock across the Trust. Activities include visiting theatres, wards and clinics to conduct stock counts, raise orders, pick goods from stores, receipting and putting away stock in the appropriate locations.

You will be added to a centralised pool for six months; during that time an allocation will be sourced for you. After six months you will be removed unless an allocation can be confirmed.

Closing date is 11 May 2026.


Responsibilities

* Receive NHS Supply chain deliveries and direct purchase orders from suppliers.
* Facilitate receipt and storage of goods.
* Conduct accurate stock counts and demand forecasting.
* Provide excellent customer service to end‑users, in person and electronically.
* Schedule urgent deliveries when required.


Qualifications

* Educated to GCSE level in Maths and English (or equivalent).
* ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) or equivalent.
* CILT Level 2 or higher.


Experience

* General work experience dealing with people in a fast‑paced environment.
* Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
* Customer service experience in related or similar environments.
* Experience of working at various heights using a ladder or lift.
* Experience working within a Stock Control, Purchase, supply or logistics environment.
* Experience of Supply Chain stock control or purchasing/supply.
* Experience of Purchase Order/stock control systems.


Knowledge

* Manual handling techniques.
* Knowledge of customer service.
* Ability to take inventory and general stock‑taking.
* Understanding of health & safety in the workplace.


Skills

* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Computer literate.
* Ability to prioritise tasks and manage own time.


Additional Requirements

* Flexible to work on a 24/7 rostered basis.
* Able to adapt and assist across the department as operational needs arise.
* Understand and behave at all times towards patients, visitors and colleagues in accordance with the Trust values of safe, kind, excellent.
