Salary: Soulbury EIP 4-6 £44,545 to £47,170 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Full time

Location: County Hall North, Horsham

Please note: You will need to travel across the county to locations that are not always accessible by public transport.

We have an opportunity to join our Mental Health Support Team in schools as an Advisory Teacher.

You will be based in our Thought-Full Service as an Advisory Teacher, where you will visit schools, working with teachers and the wider school to develop their whole school approach to mental health and emotional wellbeing.

You will be working directly with the Senior Mental Health Lead in each school, and with school staff and colleagues across West Sussex County Council (WSCC), in addition to work with pupils and parents. You will work alongside mental health experts to provide advice and support to schools relating to the emotional wellbeing of the staff, pupils, and their families.

You will provide day to day management of assigned teams, leading and managing areas of practice and policy, continual professional development, monitoring of information, and promoting equal opportunities.

About You

We are looking for an ambassador to enhance the quality of inclusive teaching and learning, who will influence activities, improve services, and ensure Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing is promoted.

You will need a qualified teacher status, strong personal values, and emotional resilience for this role with knowledge and understanding of mental health and wellbeing.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

* Supporting staff and pupils who present with emotional wellbeing challenges; for example, those relating to anxiety.
* Problem-solving skills and providing professional advice to resolve difficult problems.
* Developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships and partnership working.
* Challenge to existing practices and identifying solutions.
* Improve learning outcomes for children and young people, modelling inclusive practice.
* Forward planning to meet objectives.
* Analyse, monitor and review effectiveness of provisions.
* Oral and written communication skills to influence and negotiate outcomes.

Qualifications and/or experience:

* Educated to degree level with QTS.
* Experience of the Advisory Teacher role in providing consultation, support and challenge to schools and settings.
* Experience in working collaboratively and successfully with colleagues across different service areas.

About Us

The Educational Psychology Service (EPS) supports the delivery of the Local Authority's wellbeing strategy and Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) strategy across educational settings, children, young people, and families throughout West Sussex. The EPS directly oversees the Thought-Full, the Mental Health Support Teams in schools. We are an integrated team so also work alongside colleagues employed by Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust (SPFT)

Advisory Teachers are part of Thought-Full, receiving support from Educational Psychologists and the Thought-Full Senior Advisory Teacher. The Thought-Full team provides advice and support to schools and settings, for children and young people who experience mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties.
