About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Interim Senior Structural Engineer to join our clients Building Services team. This key role will provide expert structural engineering support across a diverse range of public infrastructure, housing, and community building projects.
You will lead on the structural assessment, design review, and project delivery of new developments, refurbishment programmes, and essential maintenance work — ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, safety standards, and environmental best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide professional structural engineering advice on a variety of projects
* Undertake structural assessments, inspections, and reports on existing buildings and structures
* Review and approve structural calculations and design proposals from consultants and contractors
* Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, external consultants, and contractors
* Support the delivery of capital projects, ensuring quality, budget, and time objectives are met
* Ensure structural elements meet relevant building codes, planning conditions, and CDM regulations
* Contribute to the development of local engineering policies and asset management strategies
About You:
* Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng or IEng) with a recognised body (e.g. ICE, IStructE)
* Proven experience in structural engineering within the public or private sector
* Strong understanding of UK building regulations, health & safety, and CDM
* Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise competing demands
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
