The role

As a Pensions Officer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll lead a dedicated team managing two in-house defined benefit pension schemes. This is a role where your expertise will make a real difference ensuring compliance, improving processes, and delivering exceptional service to our members. You’ll have the opportunity to influence change, develop your leadership skills, and contribute to a business that supports national security and infrastructure.

Day-to-day you’ll be required to:

* Oversee the daily operations of the pensions administration team, ensuring workloads are balanced and service levels are met.
* Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to team members, including performance reviews and development plans.
* Ensure all administration activities comply with scheme rules, pensions legislation, and internal policies.
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and member experience.
* Act as the first point of escalation for complex queries.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Friday and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Pensions Officer

* Proven experience administering defined benefit pension schemes.
* Previous people management experience, including coaching and workload planning.
* Strong working knowledge of pension legislation and relevant tax rules.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
* Effective communication skills.

Qualifications for the Pensions Officer

* We value difference and don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education. If you can demonstrate the required level of experience and a willingness to learn, we’d love to hear from you. It would be advantageous if you hold a PMI or equivalent pensions qualification, but this is not essential.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.

Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
