We have an opportunity within the Path Links pathology services for a Phlebotomist/Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA).
We have 2 x 30 hrs vacancies based in Scunthorpe, working at the Scunthorpe hospital site and the Scunthorpe Community Diagnostic Centre.
The Phlebotomy and MLA staff work closely within the department of Blood Sciences, supporting both the taking & processing of blood samples for testing on complex analytical platforms.
The Phlebotomy service is based in outpatients and includes a daily ward service. There is also a service at our Community Diagnostic Centre.
Responsibilities include supporting the blood test booking line, meeting & greeting patients at pathology reception, taking blood samples, working in the sample reception area, and loading samples onto analytical equipment.
While based at Scunthorpe, the role requires working cross-site at Goole as needed.
Full training will be provided, including theory & practical competency assessments to consolidate training.
Applications are invited to join our busy and friendly Pathology Department at Scunthorpe General Hospital, Community Diagnostic Centre, and Goole District Hospital. The post is based at Scunthorpe with flexibility to work at Goole.
This post is in the Outpatients of Pathology, including Blood Sciences Sample Reception. After training, the successful candidate will also take blood from patients in the department and ward areas and undertake other laboratory duties.
Previous experience in phlebotomy and/or medical laboratory skills is advantageous. Good communication skills, flexibility, and teamwork are essential.
The role involves work between 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, Monday to Friday, and participation in weekend rota on a rotational basis.
