An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our nationallyrecognised and respected Vascular Access Team at Rotherham NHS FoundationTrust. The Vascular Access Team is a specialist nursing team that includesClinical Nurse Specialists, Assistant Practitioners and Clinical SupportWorkers. The team is well established and has been providing a service atRotherham NHS Foundation Trust for nearly 30 years.
We are looking to strengthen our team further and arelooking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work as an AssistantPractitioner. Within this busy clinical service, you will assist in providingspecialist assessment and support for people requiring insertion and care ofintravenous access devices. The individual will also be responsible for ultrasoundguided cannulation and phlebotomy. You will be an integral member of theVascular Access Team. You will contribute to a trust wide supportive serviceproviding expert clinical skills and knowledge for patients requiringintravenous access and IV therapy.
This role is 32 hours per week.

Main duties of the job
The fundamental role and responsibilities for this vacancyare as follows:
* Undertake intravenous clinical skills in line with FdScProfessional Practice in Health & Social Care / Higher Apprenticeship inAssistant Practitioner (Health).
* The post holder is responsible for ultrasound guidedcannulation and phlebotomy on a daily basis.
* The post holder is responsible for gaining peripheralvascular access and obtaining blood samples on a daily basis.
* The post holder is responsible for undertaking education,audit and surveillance associated with vascular access on a weekly basis.
* The post holder will maintain accurate clinical recordsevery time they undertake clinical duties.
* Carry out any other duties appropriate to the grade asrequested by the Registered Nurse team within Vascular Access.

Knowledge
* Provide education, surveillance and audit across the Trust in peripheral intravenous procedures.
* Understanding of the vascular access team philosophy, function and expectations.
Qualifications
* FdSc Professional Practice in Health & Social Care / Higher Apprenticeship in Assistant Practitioner (Health) or Nursing Associate Higher Apprenticeship or Equivalent qualification.
* Training and assessment qualification
* Relevant learning beyond registration
Experience
* Experience in a vascular access healthcare setting.
