Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering

A well-established and growing civil engineering contractor based in Derbyshire is looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to strengthen its commercial team.
The business delivers a diverse portfolio of civil engineering works including infrastructure, highways, drainage, groundworks and earthworks projects throughout the Midlands and surrounding areas. Due to continued growth and a strong order book, they are seeking an ambitious Quantity Surveyor who is looking to build a long-term career with a company that rewards performance and promotes from within.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of projects, develop professionally and progress into more senior commercial roles over time.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing the commercial delivery of civil engineering projects from inception through to final account.
* Preparing applications for payment and managing cash flow.
* Valuing variations, change events and additional works.
* Subcontract procurement, management and account settlement.
* Producing cost reports, forecasts and commercial updates.
* Supporting operational teams with commercial advice and guidance.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
Requirements
* Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering sector.
* Good understanding of NEC forms of contract.
* Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
* Groundworks and earthworks experience would be highly beneficial.
* Experience working on infrastructure, highways, drainage or heavy civil engineering schemes.
* Degree qualified or working towards a relevant construction/commercial qualification.
