HSEQ Officer - Newry - Specialist Contractor (Demolition & Environmental Services) The Role An established and highly regarded specialist contractor is seeking an experienced HSEQ Officer to support its demolition, environmental and recycling operations. Reporting to the HSEQ Manager, this is a hands-on, site-focused position based in Newry with regular travel to sites throughout Ireland. You will work closely with Contracts Managers and Site Teams to ensure the highest standards of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance across all operations, while promoting a proactive and positive safety culture throughout the business. Key Responsibilities Conduct regular site inspections and audits, collaborating with site teams to implement practical and proportionate safety solutions Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented and closed out Prepare, review and maintain site-specific HSEQ documentation, including: RAMS Construction Phase Health & Safety Plans Construction Management Plans Traffic Management Plans Waste Management Plans Liaise with Contracts Managers, Administrators and Site Teams to ensure documentation is issued prior to works commencing Review and monitor subcontractor documentation and site activities to ensure compliance with agreed safety controls Identify training needs and coordinate training implementation and records Deliver HSE inductions and support onboarding processes Administer HSE software platforms and maintain accurate compliance records Assist with PQQs, tender submissions and pre-construction HSEQ documentation Monitor, interpret and communicate updates in Health, Safety, Environmental and Welfare legislation Support the development and implementation of HSEQ policies, procedures and safe systems of work Promote continuous improvement and best practice across all sites Undertake additional duties as required by the HSEQ Manager What Youll Need Essential NEBOSH General Certificate (Level 3) in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent Minimum 3 years experience in a similar HSEQ role within construction, demolition, or another high-risk environment Full driving licence (regular site travel required) Strong working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organisational capability and ability to manage competing priorities Good IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office Desirable Degree-level qualification in Health & Safety, Construction, Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience) Experience within demolition and/or asbestos-related environments Train the Trainer qualification Experience in environmental compliance and waste management Experience supporting or maintaining ISO management systems (ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001) IOSH/CIF PSCS qualification Skills: Construction H S Environmental
