Night senior/team leader - residential care

Overview

To support individuals to live and enjoy their life in a manner that is personalised to their wishes, needs and aspirations, following direction from the individual and the Manager in line with their personal plan. Enable individuals to live their chosen lifestyle at home and in the community and contribute to each individual's achievement of independence. Support a team of care assistants and be responsible to run a shift independently and contribute to independence and wellbeing whilst promoting maximum participation with activities of daily living.


Responsibilities

* Assist individuals in accordance with their personal plan and risk assessments.
* Aware of and implement safeguarding procedures on a day‑to‑day basis; promptly report any concerns and incidents.
* Support individuals and promote their physical and mental well‑being.
* Maintain written records of support, including finance and health and safety records as required.
* Adhere to policies, procedures and guidelines; work within required legislation including CQC Essential Standards of Quality and Safety.
* Maintain confidentiality and respect the dignity and privacy of individuals in line with Evergreen Healthcare 2004 LTD policies and procedures.
* Work flexibly, be punctual and engage in a variety of tasks; follow the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 guidelines.
* Work and communicate professionally; get to know individuals and how they want to be supported.
* Communicate clearly, concisely and honestly to individuals and colleagues about the support being provided/required using agreed forms of communication.
* Listen and seek advice when required to support decisions being made with the individual, following best interest principles as required.
* Advocate for individuals on a day‑to‑day basis, supporting self‑advocacy as appropriate.
* Provide skill development and support with daily living, including: promoting independence; maintaining the environment; personal care if needed; managing medication in line with policy; staying safe at home and in the community; travel training and/or support to travel; staying healthy; medication administration and guidance.
* Work closely with managers and colleagues to deliver support and care and ensure that tasks are not left undone; allocate workloads to carers to support the team leader in running a shift.
* Carry out office‑based tasks where required (e.g., filing, report writing, handling money, telephone and computer work) including using the Care plan system for daily notes; contribute to key workers' care plans and understanding of complete care plans.
* Follow policies and procedures and ensure compliance with external policies and guidance relevant to the work.
* Participate in training and supervision to develop own skills and support provided.


Health & Safety

* Familiarity with and understanding of the Health and Safety requirements of the Home; attend all mandatory health and safety training courses.
* Follow safe working practices at all times; use personal protective equipment where provided and required.
* Report all accidents, incidents or dangerous occurrences promptly according to organisational guidelines.
* Maintain good housekeeping standards within the service location; ensure safe entry and exit at all times.
* Familiarity with the fire safety policy and procedures for fire drills and evacuation.


Training and Support

* Induction to the Home and to your role.
* Line manager and regular supervision.
* Training to enable you to perform your job; the Home will support you to further your training where possible and relevant.

Qualifications

* Experience of working in residential care in a senior role or team leader required.
