Salary

£21,349.13 – £26,295.12 (dependent on experience)

Job Description

We are excited to announce a vacancy for a full‑time Behaviour Coach working within a unique outdoor learning setting supporting students aged 8–19 in Loughborough.

This role is suited to a passionate, committed practitioner with experience supporting children and young people in line with EHCP targets and behavioural plans. You will work with small groups of learners within a carefully designed, homely base, enabling strong emotional engagement before academic learning can take place.

Building trusting relationships is central to this role. We are looking for someone who can provide consistency, security and calm leadership for vulnerable learners, communicate clearly and confidently, and remain resilient in high‑pressure situations.


Purpose of the Role

As a Behaviour Coach, you will be responsible for developing and delivering structured, autism‑specific behavioural methodologies in collaboration with learners across the setting. The role focuses on identifying and addressing barriers to engagement, with the aim of enabling learners to achieve their full potential and take ownership of their personal development.


Skills & Experience


Essential Personal Attributes

* Capacity to build rapport and trust quickly with learners and staff


Essential Experience & Skills

* Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with ASC
* Proven ability to understand, develop, implement and evaluate behaviour management strategies
* Strong focus on resolution management and reflective, developmental practice
* Passion for working with young people and ability to connect positively with them
* Positive, energetic and proactive approach
* Resilience when working in challenging environments
* Strong organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
* Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals
* Full understanding of safeguarding, including CSE protocols
* First Aid competency
* Ability to remain effective in high‑pressure situations
* Collaborative approach to working with professionals and parents/carers
* Commitment to CPD and contributing beyond the core role
* Experience working with learners disengaged from education
* Access to own transport (essential due to location)


Desirable

* Willingness to take on additional responsibility
* Strong understanding of autism, ideally supported by Autism Level 1 or 2 training
* Related teaching or coaching qualifications
* Experience working within a school or specialist education setting


Key Responsibilities (Including but Not Limited To)

* Deliver autism‑specific behavioural frameworks and tools consistently
* Work with designated learners to reduce disengagement, low resilience and challenging behaviour
* Tailor coaching sessions to individual learner needs
* Reduce behavioural incidents through structured tracking and intervention approaches
* Build and maintain positive working relationships with staff
* Collaborate with other Behaviour Coaches to share best practice
* Work with senior leaders to review progress and support learner development
* Support increased engagement and attendance
* Capture student voice to inform behaviour targets and encourage ownership
* Develop peer mentoring opportunities
* Create and share behaviour strategies to ensure consistency across staff
* Ensure all approaches align with EHCP expectations


Compliance & Administration

* Maintain awareness of risk assessments, policies and procedures
* Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare
* Accurately complete behaviour logs, reports and safeguarding records
* Contribute to daily documentation and evidence of learning
