CONTRACT TYPE: 6 months Attachment / Fixed Term Contract, Full-Time
DEPARTMENT: Media Operations, BBC Midlands Today
LOCATION: The Mailbox
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £32,400-£40,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Operations Team in Birmingham provides technical services to our daily regional news output including Midlands Today, the regional Politics Show programme and supports programming on other BBC platforms.
We are looking for a Senior Operator to join our multi-skilled team.
Our Operation team provide a variety of key services including hub operations, editing, vision and sound mixing, directing, graphics design, location filming, satellite truck operations and more.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have established skills and experience in a live broadcast environment.
Ideally you will have experience in four of the keys areas of technical production which may include editing, vision mixing, directing bulletins, media hub operations, sound mixing, graphics design, and location filming.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate their willingness to be flexible in their role and the hours they work, as well as exhibit excellent team working, problem solving and communication skills. You may also be asked to take a project work.
You will support television and our online services, as well as support radio where appropriate.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
* Ideally you will have at least three of the following skills.
* Media management / Media hub operations
* Editing
* Vision mixing
* Sound mixing
* Directing experience
* Studio camera operation
* IT literacy skills
* Excellent team working and communication skills and have demonstrable problem solving skills.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
* Graphics design experience
* Location filming and editing
* Floor managing experience
