Teaching Assistant
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Start Date: April 2026 or sooner
Salary: £90 – £110 per day
Contract: Term Time Only
GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist SEN setting in Scarborough. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a range of additional needs in a structured, nurturing environment.
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with experience supporting pupils with:
* SLCN (Speech, Language and Communication Needs)
* Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
* Use of PECS and/or Makaton
* Behaviour training or positive behaviour support strategies
As a Teaching Assistant you will:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs
* Support communication development using PECS, Makaton and other strategies
* Assist with behaviour regulation using consistent, positive approaches
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff and therapists
* Contribute to a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment
As the Ideal Teaching Assistant, you should:
* Have experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly ASC and SLCN
* Be confident using PECS, Makaton or alternative communication methods
* Have behaviour management training or experience in specialist settings
* Be patient, resilient and passionate about supporting individual progress
* Hold (or is willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS on the Update Service
