Previous GP surgeryand System 1 experience is desirable but not essential, as full training willbe given.

Dealing with patient enquiries both on the phone and face to face.
Updating patient records on our computer systems
Liaising with the clinical team
Competent use and understanding of the practice appointments system
General administrative tasks, such as, registering new patients

We are a large, busy, centrally located GP surgery in Brighton with a list size of 13,000 patients. We offer a wide range of health services including a Young Persons Sexual Health clinic, First Contact Physiotherapist, onsite Midwife and Wellbeing teams.
We have a large clinical team consisting of GPs, ANPs, Practice Nurses, Health Care assistants, and a Mental Health Nurse,who cover all aspects of Primary Care for our patient population.

Main purpose of post:
To provide a point of contact between patients,doctors and other medical staff.
To represent the practice to all patients andvisitors to the practice.
To play their part in patient welfare by keeping confidentialmedical records up to date at all times.
To carry out administrative functions to supportpatient care
Reception Duties:
Book appointments in accordance with practicepolicy. Have thorough knowledge of practices appointment system.
Assist patients with queries and explain how toaccess services within the practice.
To present a professional image to all visitorsto the practice at all times.
To answer incoming calls in a pleasant, friendly andprofessional manner.
Register new patients, temporary residents andthose needing immediately necessary treatment in accordance with practicepolicy in advance of their booked appointment.
To make outgoing calls according to practicepolicy, working to confidentiality guidelines.
Informing patients calling into the practice oftheir results, according to practice policy.
Respond to all queries and requests forassistance from patients and other visitors.
Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept tidy.
Open up premises at start of day, turn offintruder alarm and make all necessary preparations to receive patients.
Secure premises at end of day, ensure thebuilding is completely secured, with the internal lights off and alarmactivated.
Receive and make calls as required and inaccordance with practice policy.

Alter patients personal details on computer andmanual records accurately.
Manage pathology links dealing accurately andefficiently with results.
To receive and distribute post from internal andexternal sources.
Scanning of patient correspondence
