Bradfield College & St Andrew's Berkshire are co-educational independent boarding and day schools set within 250 acres of stunning Berkshire countryside, combining historic buildings with modern academic, boarding, sports and performance facilities. The College and school operate seven days a week and remains active year-round, welcoming pupils, staff, families and guests for a range of purposes.
We are seeking an experienced Housekeeping Manager to lead our cleaning services following a recent team restructure. This is a key operational role, central to ensuring that the College is presented at its very best at all times. Cleanliness, hygiene and appearance are among the first things anyone notices when they arrive, making this position critical to the day-to-day running and reputation of the College and school combined.
The Role
Reporting to the Operations Director, the Housekeeping Manager has overall responsibility for the leadership, organisation and performance of the housekeeping function across the estate.
The role manages a team of Assistant Managers, each with responsibility for defined areas of the site, and oversees cleaning activities across a wide range of facilities including boarding houses, teaching spaces, offices, sports buildings, performance venues and guest accommodation.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and motivate the housekeeping management team and wider housekeeping team
* Deliver excellent levels of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation
* Plan and manage staff rotas, labour deployment and productivity
* Ensure full compliance with health & safety and COSHH regulations
* Coordinate cleaning for events, term transitions and special projects
The Ideal Candidate
You will be an experienced housekeeping manager or in a senior role within hospitality operations, who is ready for the next step.
You will bring:
* Proven experience managing a cleaning or facilities team
* A strong eye for detail and pride in high standards
* The confidence to lead, motivate and challenge a team
* A practical, organised and solution‑focused approach
* Good understanding of health & safety, COSHH and hygiene standards
* Flexibility to work within a seven‑day operational environment
* Clear communication skills and a professional, approachable manner
Formal qualifications are not essential; however, supervisory or cleaning‑related training is welcomed.
