Responsible for: Deliver a developmentally appropriate, PSHE curriculum-based preventative program designed to explore issues around relationships. Lead sessions around healthy relationships for children and young people aged 4-18 and give children and young people opportunities to discuss elements of healthy and unhealthy relationships. Work closely with senior leadership teams within educational provisions to organise sessions, offer guidance and drive future work. Organise own work and timetabling with minimum supervision. Work within the community to promote the service and deliver sessions within alternative provisions, including the Youth Service, Childrens Centres and other statutory and non-statutory organisations.
Objectives: To hold conversations about the root causes of violence, and educate children and young people on gender-based violence and provide support to organisations around this.
To work as a member of the DIAS team in fulfilling its objectives in an efficient and effective manner.
Description of Activities
1. Lead sessions around healthy relationships for children and young people aged 4-18. Using developmentally appropriate activities that can be used in a range of spaces and hold conversations about the root causes of violence, educating young people on gender-based violence.
2. Use a range of toolkits to provide active, fun, engaging and also challenging sessions.
3. Sessions are based around the following plans, which although some may not raise domestic abuse directly (for younger children), have been written using themes found to be effective in tackling domestic abuse, such as:
4. Challenging assumptions about gender, power and equality.
5. Changing beliefs and attitudes about men and women.
6. Managing feelings and accepting responsibility for one's own feeling and behaviours.
7. Helping to resolve conflict.
8. Knowing the difference between abusive and non-abusive relationships.
9. Understanding our digital footprints.
10. Promoting the consistent message that abuse is not acceptable.
11. Understanding that domestic abuse is a crime.
12. Highlighting the role of peers in providing support.
13. Understanding consent online and offline.
14. Being aware of red flags in early relationships.
15. Giving information about where to get help.
16. To carry out tasks which help maintain the smooth running of DIAS and the Wigan Domestic Abuse Service.
17. To respond appropriately and in a timely manner to any safeguarding issues raised within sessions. Safeguarding concern must be immediately reported into the relevant safeguarding lead(s) within the organisation and support sought to protect individuals from any immediate risk of harm. This must then be documented in a timely and concise manner.
18. To develop links with appropriate agencies to ensure the diverse needs of children and young people using the service are met.

20. To deliver domestic abuse awareness raising sessions with other agencies.
21. To consult with and involve children and young people in making decisions about themselves and the development of the service.
22. To work in conjunction with the Community Domestic Abuse Workers to support clients and their children
23. Gather and develop resources to facilitate work with children and young people.
24. To participate in the evaluation of DIAS and Wigan Domestic Abuse Services work.
25. To participate in DIAS' events and meetings
26. To ensure that security of sensitive information is maintained and complies with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 and other relevant legislation
27. To maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, security and to work within DIAS's Code of Conduct.
28. To develop and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with all DIAS staff and volunteers, being committed as part of the team to providing a high level of support to anyone who utilises the service.
29. Attending and participating in regular supervision, staff, training and other meetings as necessary with some non-standard evening and weekend work expected occasionally, based on the needs of the service.
30. To keep up to date with good practice and research in the field and use this to inform the development of the service
