Opportunity:Workshop Foreman
Location:Southampton
Salary:£45,000 £55,000 per annum
We are proud to be partnering with a well-established national equipment rental business as they expand their operational leadership team in their Southampton depot.
About the Role:
This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for the day-to-day management of the depot workshop. Youll play a key part in ensuring the maintenance, repair, and inspection of a broad range of plant and tool equipment, while supervising a team of fitters and yard staff.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee all workshop operations including tool and plant servicing, maintenance, repair, and inspection.
* Supervise and lead workshop fitters and yard teams.
* Ensure depot KPIs are met consistently and effectively.
* Coordinate with the transport team to ensure plant availability for upcoming hires.
* Ensure accurate stock control and conduct regular stock takes.
* Identify and charge out customer damage from off-hired equipment.
* Support repairs including electrical, hydraulic, diesel, and petrol systems.
* Promote a strong health & safety culture within the depot.
* Attend off-site breakdowns where required.
* Manage service paperwork and ensure accurate record keeping.
* Order parts through the internal purchasing system and coordinate warranty repairs with suppliers.
* Participate in ongoing training programmes to enhance team capabilities.
About You:
* Minimum 5 years' experience working with tools and powered access equipment.
* Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
* Previous experience in a supervisory or foreman position within a workshop environment.
* Organised, proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced depot setting.
* Full UK driving licence.
