Overview

Maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out assessment and treatment of patients preparing for surgery or oncological treatments in line with latest guidance and research. Provide assessment and treatment through face-to-face, virtual and telephone consultations. Support patients with advice to optimise physical activity, nutrition and wellbeing. Ensure the safe and effective running of group-based services. You will work closely with other Prehab AHPs and the wider MDT of Surgeons, anaesthetists and specialist nurses, leading on and completing specialist assessments in clinics across sites (face-to-face and virtual), supporting group-based programmes and contributing to public health initiatives and behaviour change. The role blends physical, nutritional and wellbeing interventions; therefore, it is desirable that the successful candidate demonstrates experience across these areas. Excellent communication, change management and time management skills are essential. Eligible candidates will have opportunities to inform national policy and be at the forefront of developments in prehabilitation, both nationally and internationally. The successful candidate should be forward thinking, active in forming relationships and networking with other clinicians internally and externally to the Trust.


Responsibilities

* Lead on specialist assessments for individuals in clinics across sites (face-to-face and virtual).
* Support group-based programmes and contribute to public health initiatives and behaviour change.
* Provide integrated physical, nutritional and wellbeing interventions.
* Collaborate with Prehab AHPs and the wider MDT (Surgeons, anaesthetists, specialist nurses).
* Ensure safe and effective running of group-based services.


Qualifications

* B.S.c Hons in Physiotherapy or Grad. Diploma in Physiotherapy
* Current registration with Health Professions Council (HCPC)
* Documented evidence of CPD


Desirable Criteria

* Attended clinical supervisors course
* Relevant introductory course in management skills
* Wide range of experience at band 6 level
* Experience in supervision and training of qualified staff, assistants and students
* Substantial clinical experience in NHS UK or health service
* Involvement in audit/research, evidence of service development and implementing change
* Post-registration training in relevant up-to-date musculoskeletal techniques
* Ability to work well with others and pass on skills and knowledge
* Ability to respond effectively to complex, emotional or challenging situations; excellent communication and presentation skills
* Evidence of organisational and leadership skills
* Able to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and commit to personal and team development
* Able to maintain judgement under pressure and work flexibly to meet service needs
* Member of a special interest group

The Prehab Team is a well established and nationally recognised therapy-led service for patients undergoing preparation for major surgery and cancer treatments. Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust comprises Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital & Royal Liverpool University Hospital. We are part of the NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group, formed on 1 Nov 2024 from the coming together of LUHFT and Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust.
