Port Health Team Leader - Closing date -07.04.2024 Salary from £38,601 to £42,969 pa depending on skills and experience, plus 14% shift allowance for working 24 hour shift basis Our new Inland Border Control Post at Sevington is responsible for Ashford Port Health staff carrying out checks and controls on imports of food to ensure that it is safe to eat before it enters the food chain, and that animal and public health is safeguarded and that there is compliance with relevant rules and standards. You will be responsible for managing our business support team who are crucial to the success of the service ensuring that the documents, fees paid and the goods imported are consistent and correct and that consignments are able to clear the border control facility. You will provide a lead role in day to day operational service provision undertaking a full and comprehensive range of management and administration tasks including monitoring levels of staff cover, allocating work, and ensuring all staff have access to required systems and equipment, along with: Analysing data and provide comprehensive reports to support business requirements. Overseeing the completion of documentation checks and related payment processes. Maintaining good financial records and support established financial management systems, including purchase order requisition, goods receipting, and tracking and reconciling expenditure. In order to be competent in this role it is essential that you have a first degree, business administration, management qualification or equivalent experience, along with having: Relevant experience leading a team within a similar environment Provision of an operational and/or technical lead role within a team Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to relate well to others, communicate confidently with colleagues across the organisation and establish positive relationships across a wide range of stakeholders You willbe expected to work on a shift basis that covers 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and 365 days per year (based on 37 hours per week).
