Overview
This is an exciting time for a new cardiologist to help develop cardiology services, for our local population of about 750,000 people. The appointed individual will be expected to work closely with other consultants in the department of cardiology of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA).
The service has a Clinical Director, Dr Kamal Khan, lead nurse, Naheed Sabir and Directorate Manager, Tania Woolley. There are regular directorate meetings to communicate directorate and corporate issues and also to provide support to medical staff. A mentor will be allocated to the new appointee to assist their transition into their new role. Regular job planning meetings are held to monitor workload.
The new post holder will be expected to participate in a hot week system, whereby all cardiology inpatients are seen daily Monday to Friday, and a review of any patients with cardiology conditions in the MAU or elsewhere in Fairfield General Hospital (FGH)/ the Royal Oldham Hospital (ROH) occurs daily.
The service provides new and follow-up cardiology clinics. The clinics are held in the main hospital. The department has the support of the cardiology specialist nurses. The service has access to full cardiorespiratory investigations on site. The new post would be expected to provide new and follow up cardiology clinics to support this.
In addition to general cardiology inpatient work and cardiology clinics, the post holder will be expected to have a sub-specialist interest in Imaging. This is an ideal post for a clinician wishing to maintain an established service with the potential for significant service development with a team of dedicated clinicians.
