JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THE POST OF A CARE ASSISTANT The Gables Care home is a home for residents with previous mental health issue and ongoing drug/alcohol misuse. Previous care experience of working with service users (residents) with mental health/drug and alcohol issues will be desirable. Other duties involve: Personal Care Hygiene: Assisting with bathing, showering, oral care, dressing, and using the toilet. Mobility: Helping residents move around, using aids like hoists, and ensuring safe transfers. Dignity: Maintaining residents' self-respect, helping with hair styling, makeup, and ensuring privacy. Health & Wellbeing Monitoring: Taking and recording vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, weight) and reporting changes. Medication: Assisting with prescribed medication, reminding residents, and recording administration (where trained). Nutrition: Preparing meals, assisting with eating and drinking, and ensuring hydration. Activities: Supporting and encouraging participation in social, physical, and mental stimulation activities. Support & Administration Record Keeping: Updating care plans, daily logs, and medication charts accurately. Communication: Liaising with families, GPs, and other healthcare professionals. Domestic Tasks: Light cleaning, making beds, and emptying bins as needed. Appointments: Booking and accompanying residents to appointments Key Qualities: Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills. Ability to work as part of a team and follow policies.
