We would like to add a Managing Consultant to the Green Transition “Industrial” team, to contribute and expand all aspects of our work and lead our service offerings on industrial decarbonisation, including commercial sectors. This recruitment is for an engineer and/or a strong technical background with >8 years’ post-graduate experience.
This role requires a strong blend of business development and work delivery, with an expected split of approximately 50:50. The successful candidate will be partially utilized across both areas, contributing to technical delivery while actively engaging in business development activities. A key expectation is leadership in proposal development, including drafting technical content, budgets, and methodologies to secure new contracts and grow our industrial decarbonisation portfolio.
Responsibilities
Work as part of a multi-national, collaborative team of energy and climate consultants, engineers and economists, often taking leadership roles to:
1. Win, manage and deliver energy and climate technical assistance contracts for private and public sector clients, taking a lead in industrial decarbonisation.
2. Manage project teams and subcontractors, taking responsibility for meeting client needs within quality, time and cost constraints.
3. Promote the company at client meetings, events, networking groups and through social media channels by providing thought leadership content on pertinent topics.
4. Build and maintain relationships with key clients.
5. Lead and manage research, analysis, technical assistance and evaluation projects in energy-intensive sectors, focusing on low carbon and energy efficiency solutions.
6. Conduct technical assessment of grant applications involving complex industrial decarbonisation and energy efficiency projects, including their technical setup, commercial arrangements, project delivery, risk management and cost proposals.
7. Conduct on-site audits at industrial and commercial facilities to assess participant compliance with programme requirements.
8. Engage with grant programme participants to assess, monitor and report on their development progress. Where needed, develop ad-hoc solutions within strict programme constraints to overcome potential risk and challenges participants face.
9. Maintain appropriate records / uphold quality assurance integrity.
10. Lead business development activities.
11. Mentor and provide direction to junior staff in the course of their work
Basic Qualifications
12. Fluency in spoken and written English
13. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical discipline related to decarbonisation
14. Experience winning and successfully delivering energy, decarbonisation and climate related projects for private and public sector clients.
15. Expertise in industrial decarbonisation, including fuel switching (from natural gas to clean hydrogen) and large scale carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS). This to include relevant market economics and applicable low carbon technologies.
16. Extensive project and proposal management experience
17. Proven ability to communicate effectively with external and internal stakeholders.
18. Proven experience of professional report writing.
19. Experience with commercial deployment of low carbon technologies in industrial applications.
20. Knowledge of the applicable UK/EU energy and climate policy framework.
21. Strong qualitative and quantitative analysis capability.
22. Proven capability for processing, managing and presenting data.
23. Proven high degree of determination to meet customers’ needs.
24. At least 8 years’ professional experience.
Preferred:
25. Masters’ degree in engineering or related discipline
26. Technical experience with decarbonisation solutions, CCUS, hydrogen application and/or smart grid solutions (e.g. decentralised energy network system, storage technologies, demand-side response, integration of renewable technologies and zero emission vehicles) and their commercial deployment would be a distinct advantage
27. Ability to lead and work within multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary consulting teams spread across several countries and time zones.

29. Line management experience in a professional consulting environment
30. Experience implementing climate / sustainable energy financial mechanisms
31. High proficiency in Excel, VBA and relevant online tools to optimise operational processes.
32. Project management experience, ideally backed up by relevant training and / or certifications, such as Prince 2, PMP, PMI, etc.
