As a Lead Childrens Worker in our short breaks service, you will play a key role in supporting children and young people with disabilities to build confidence, develop independence, and feel safe, valued and supported during their stay.
You will take the lead on shifts, support your colleagues, and ensure each child receives high quality, person centred care tailored to their individual needs and aspirations.
What your day will look like
Leading shifts on a rotational basis, coordinating daily activities and supporting the wider team Planning and delivering engaging activities that support development, wellbeing and life skills Providing personal care including eating, drinking, dressing and hygiene, always maintaining dignity and respect Acting as key worker for individual children, developing and reviewing care plans and risk assessments Supporting children with additional needs, including mobility and behaviours that may challenge Communicating with families and contributing to care reviews and multi agency meetings Supporting the safe running of the service, including medication management and compliance
About you
This role could be right for you if you have experience supporting children, particularly those with additional support needs, and are confident taking on responsibility within a team. You are calm under pressure, organised, and able to lead by example while supporting others to deliver high quality care. You bring a compassionate and practical approach, balancing care, structure and fun to create a positive experience for every child. You are reliable and committed to delivering high quality care in a residential setting. You will hold an SVQ Level 3 in Social Care (Children) or HNC (SCQF Level 7). You will be required to join the PVG Scheme and register with the SSSC.
