The primary function of this position is to work closely with the Principal Engineer, Estimator and the Technical Sales Engineer to support the design and tendering process for dewatering schemes by analysing site investigation data, assisting in developing solutions, and preparing associated documentation. The role also involves initial engagement with clients to understand their technical needs.
WJ offers an extensive training and development program commencing after the probationary period. Induction, basic training, and PPE will be provided at the start of employment.
Reports /Responsible to Technical Manager (Line Manager)
Key areas of responsibility
Main Duties:
* Maintain and update CDM Database.
* Log all new enquiries in the CDM System and on the weekly project management
* system.
* Set up enquiry folders (electronic and paper if required).
* Carry out housekeeping of the enquiry database, collect, and report statistics.
* Assist in the preparation of dewatering designs and cost estimates.
* Support the development of technical solutions based on site requirements.
* Prepare associated documents including section and layout drawings.
* Collect, collate, and present data from projects in hand.
* Undertake site visits to gather data and discuss project needs with clients.
* Support technical sales activities by assisting in the preparation of technical
* materials for client meetings.
* Assist senior Technical Sales and Design staff in responding to technical queries
* during the sales process.
* Contribute to building customer relationships and technical reputation.
The above is not exhaustive, and you will be expected to undertake any other duties
which may reasonably fall within the level of responsibility and competence.
Target Deliverable (within 6 months):
Demonstrate ability to prepare conceptual model of the ground conditions and construction method. Demonstrate the ability to produce basic dewatering quotations suitable for checking. Assist with the preparation of technical documentation for pre-sales presentations.
Qualifications & Experience:
* A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
* A motivated and hardworking individual with good written and communication skills.
* Competent user of Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Basic knowledge and understanding of AutoCAD and databases is desirable.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
* Willingness to develop sales and communication skills.
* Full valid UK driving license and confirmation of right to work in the UK.
Working Conditions
The role is predominately office based at our head office, but you will be expected to visit our clients’ sites for meetings and site walkovers within the UK and mainland Europe as required.
Physical Requirements:
The role is predominately office based but does require that the role utilises a Visual Display Unit (VDU) as part of their day-to-day activities. On site you will standing for extended periods of time often in outdoor environments in all weather conditions.
