Overview
Job summary: An exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse with post-registration experience and interest in urological cancers, with emphasis on prostate cancer. Prostate cancer experience is desirable but not essential. This is a permanent full-time role within a busy environment.
The CNS role involves supporting, educating and providing care to patients and their families during their journey, focusing on safety, advocacy, transparency, and involving wider MDT members when appropriate. The post requires a highly motivated nurse who can excel in a dynamic setting and manage a patient caseload with excellent communication, teamwork, compassion, and professionalism.
Main duties
* Work with and support the prostate cancer urology specialist nursing team and wider MDT in providing support and advice to patients referred for specialist uro-oncological interventions and treatments.
* Form constructive and professional relationships across trust sites with Urologists, Oncologists, Radiologists, Outpatients and Ward staff.
* Travel across sites; emphasis on Solihull and Good Hope sites.
* Participate in a nurse-led approach to deliver patient-focused care and contribute to quality of care through practice, clinics, education, research, referrals and audit.
* Participate in the MDT by preparing cases, offering professional opinion, promoting patient advocacy, updating patients on outcomes, and ensuring a positive patient experience.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
* Portfolio of certified/accredited post-registration professional development
Desirable
* Health Assessment postgraduate qualification or willingness to work towards
Experience
* Post-registration experience with knowledge and development in the associated specialist area
* In-depth knowledge of specialist procedures with willingness to undertake further training to achieve competence
* Knowledge of standards and policies related to the role
* Experience in a multidisciplinary and cross-agency environment
* Understanding of NHSE diagnostic/therapeutic expectations/strategy around endoscopy services
* Understanding of clinical governance/patient safety processes and accountability
