A funded opportunity is available to work on a project in radar sensing for human gait evaluation. This position is based in Biomedical Engineering, School of Science and Engineering. The project will investigate the use of radar sensors to assess the condition of individuals with mobility difficulties, including difficulties associated with Parkinson’s disease. The work is intended to support clinical decision-making by helping to prioritise patients for interventions such as total knee replacement, and by detecting early cognitive decline, including Parkinson’s-related risk, through the use of deep learning and artificial intelligence. The project ultimately aims to improve access to care and patient outcomes.
Your priorities will include:
* Learn the operation of the radar developed by the University of Glasgow
* Designing the experiments and preparing the data collection
* Collecting gait data from at least 30 subjects in the labs at Dundee and
* Close liaison with collaborators, including installation and testing of instruments at other laboratories.
* Independent analysis of experimental data, testing of hypotheses, and producing publication-ready
* Supporting undergraduate students with their scientific
* Maintaining documentation and write up research results for scientific publication
* Represent the research group at external meetings/seminars
* Collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports, journal articles, and patents
* Manage own academic research and administrative activities
* Any other duties appropriate with the role
