Service/Ward/Department Summary:
Pennine Care Tameside and Glossop Talking Therapies works with clients aged 16 + and provides a range of evidenced based interventions for people requiring a psychological intervention between step 2 and 3 of the Stepped Care model. The service sits within a wider Primary Care Mental Health Team, with a wide range of professionals, including Nurses, psychologists, counsellors, CBT therapists and PWP’s.

The Primary Care Psychological Therapies Service is based in the centre of Ashton Under Lyne.
Main duties of the job
Tameside & Glossop Talking Therapies are seeking a proactive and motivated Senior PWP within Step 2 who is passionate about outcomes and committed to driving service development and supporting the provision of high volume, low intensity CBT based interventions. This role is ideal for someone who brings initiative and is solution focused. You will play a key part in reviewing Step 2 practices, identifying patterns, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement, and turning insight into workable solutions. Your role will include:
Working collaboratively with clinicians, admin, and managers to develop new ideas for improving pathways, productivity, and quality at Step 2.
Development strategies to reach hard to reach groups and foster mutually beneficial relationships with partner services.
Promote engagement/updates on the service via social media including the production of video content.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Hold a reduced but complex caseload at Step 2 in order to maintain clinical registration.
* Hold a PWP supervisors qualification to provide clinical and case management supervision to qualified and trainee step 2 practitioners
* To ensure that clinical supervision adheres to good professional standards as outlined in the BABCP code of conduct for psychological wellbeing practitioners.
* To facilitate the accreditation of psychological wellbeing practitioners.
* To facilitate training for clinical staff within the Team in Step 2 interventions.
* To support staff to meet their recovery rates target in line with service provision.
* Lead on clinical developments for the delivery of CBT, groups’ intervention and other clinical innovations
* Support trainee PWP’s
* Offer drop in supervision for complex case review on a rota basis with other senior practitioners
* Engage in triaging referrals along with discharge checks
* Manage risk and safeguarding cases when appropriate
* Deliver internal training along with supporting staff with workshop facilitation.
* Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service and develop programmes of care packages.
* Undertakes patient-centred assessments, which identifies areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and makes an accurate client assessment of risk to self and others.
* Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department’s referral protocols, refers unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary or steps-up the person’s treatment to high intensity psychological therapy.
* Provide a range of information and intervention for evidence based high-volume low-intensity psychological treatments. This may include guided self-help, computerised CBT, information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be face to face, by telephone or within a group setting.
* Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary with the clients consent.
* Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the overall number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.
* Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
* Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.
* Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols and use these records and clinical outcome data in clinical decision making.
* Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.
* Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process.
* Operate at all times from an inclusive values base which promotes recovery and recognises and respects diversity.
* Prepare and present clinical information for all patients on their caseload to clinical case management supervisors within the service on an agreed and scheduled basis, in order to ensure safe practice and the clinical governance obligations of the worker, supervisor and service are delivered.
* Respond to and implement supervision suggestions by supervisors in clinical practice.
* Engage in and respond to management supervision to improve competences, clinical practice and service development.
* To provide caseload/management supervision to Low intensity workers or trainees within the step 2 team.
* To participate in relevant operational/service development groups agreed with Line Manager.

Please note - this is a full time position – 37.5 hours per week.
This isn't a remote working contract. You will split your time between working from the service base and home. Days/hours to be agreed with the Step 2 Manager.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
* A related degree, e.g. Psychology with a either a Post Graduate Certificate / Diploma in Mental Health or Equivalent
* Or, IAPT Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner qualification
* Training in Risk / Storm
* Registered with the BPS or BABCP or working towards this
Desirable criteria
* A qualification or substantial experience in Professional Supervision: Accredited as a PWP / Knowledge of the PWP accreditation process
Experience
Essential criteria
* Significant experience of working with people with common mental health problems
* Ability to demonstrate a range of post-qualifying experiences in offering and delivering the range of evidencebased IAPT low intensity interventions such as computerised CBT and guided selfhelp and group psychoeducation
* Consolidated and reflective supervised post-qualifying experience, preferably in NHS or Social Services setting.
* Experience of delivering training to a range of professionals
* Experience of 'partnership working'
* Experience of working with clients who self harm
* Substantial experience of multi-disciplinary teamwork
Desirable criteria
* Experience in drug/alcohol management
* Experience of supervising others within a therapy setting of helping profession such as social work nursing
* Experience of working in a Primary Care Mental Health setting

* Experience of dealing with clients whose children are subject to Child Protection legislation
