Senior Locally Employed Doctor – Paediatric Long Term Ventilation
The post holder will hold a 12‑month fixed term post working within the LTV department at RMCH. The service manages over 180 children and young people and includes a transitional care unit for 8 tracheostomy‑ventilated children awaiting stability and discharge. The LTV team consists of 3 consultants, discharge coordinators, an advanced practitioner, LTV nurse educators, specialist nurses and AHP support.
Key responsibilities include:
* Clinical management of inpatient and outpatient care for children supported by invasive or non‑invasive ventilation.
* Working across wards, intensive care and the neonatal unit.
* Participation in the national LTV advisory group chaired by Dr Stuart Wilkinson at RMCH.
* Contributing to the wider respiratory medicine MDT and covering the on‑call Senior Clinical Fellow rota.

Person Specification
* MRCPCH Part 1
* At least 2 years paediatric experience, including general paediatrics and neonatal intensive care.
* Evidence of interest in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
* MRCPCH or equivalent.
Personal skills
* Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
* Clear oral and written communication skills.
* Being a member of a team.
* IT competence.
* Flexible approach.
Experience
* Awareness and involvement in audit and management.
* Completed audit or quality improvement projects.
* UK paediatric and neonatal experience.
