Job Description:
The Choir Director/ Accompanist works under the direction of the Session through the supervision of the Pastor.
The Choir Director is responsible for the choral program of the church and has the following specific responsibilities:
* Coordinate with the Pastor and Worship Committee to provide a variety of music (including Psalms) that reflects Reformed Presbyterian theology and practice.
* Lead and Accompany the congregation and choir on all hymns and special music during Sunday morning Worship services.
* Select and submit for approval all music for the choir or other musical guests.
* Coordinate special music guests or ensembles for worship.
* Order any new music through the church secretary.
* Participate in the development of a yearly budget for the music program.
* Schedule, accompany, and conduct weekly choir practices.
* Conduct special cantatas or other music programs (usually during Easter and Christmas).
* When possible, be available to play for funerals of church members. The church recognizes that there are times when a regular job will take precedence.
* Identify and develop the musical gifts and talents of the congregation.
The Choir Director is paid on a per month basis.
The Choir Director will be allowed 4 weeks of unpaid vacation each year. Vacation requests and other time off requests will be submitted in writing 30 days prior to the Session via the Clerk of Session for approval.
Position Qualifications:
* Membership in good standing at a Bible-based church
* Coordinate music that reflects Reformed Presbyterian theology and practice
* Lead and accompany the congregation during Sunday morning Worship
* Schedule, accompany, and conduct weekly choir practices
* Identify and develop the musical gifts of the congregation
