An enthusiastic, organised and motivated individual is invited to join the Finance team at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Management Accountant. You will work as part of a small, friendly and supportive team within the wider finance function. As the management accountant for the R&D department you will work closely with the R&D team, based at both Winchester and Basingstoke. The Finance team is based mainly in Basingstoke, with a mix of hybrid working and close collaboration to support the Trust’s aims. The team is encouraged to be proactive and innovative to continually improve how the team works.
HHFT Finance Department is committed to training and development and actively encourages staff to study for CCAB and other recognised accounting qualifications. The trust provides the opportunity for support with fees and study leave for those on the staff training programme. There is also an option for Flexible Working, and all requests for flexible and part-time working will be considered.
Responsibilities
* Ensure that accurate records and robust processes are in place to deliver the monthly and annual financial management reporting and planning cycles.
* Prepare and monitor research income for specific departments and produce regular income statements.
* Be proactive in the Department to suggest areas for further analysis and review.
* Support the R&D Manager and AFM with pay budgeting, including monitoring actual to establishment.
* Produce ad hoc reports as requested, using spreadsheets and databases, and analyse data for trends and discrepancies where appropriate.
* Act as the first point of contact for financial queries and advice for the R&D Management team and study coordinators/PIs.
* Support HHFT work with external financial partner NIHR RDN, including producing quarterly financial returns, contributing to the annual business planning process, and supporting the production of strategic funding bids.
* Support HHFT staff with developing cost outlines for grant applications, specific finance projects, and business cases.
* Work closely with relevant departments to review costing templates for Clinical Trials and other studies, and ensure that accurate costs are reflected in the Clinical Trials Agreements.
