Job Summary
We are seeking a well‑motivated Support Practitioner to join our outstanding service within the Responsive and Intensive Support Team (Child and Adolescent Mental Health). The role supports children and young people with mental health difficulties within East Lancashire.
You will assist in delivering therapeutic care to children/young people under the direct supervision of qualified staff and will also handle telephone calls from young people, families and referrers. Your main aim is to provide care to families and young people with severe and complex mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide and maintain the highest level of care and safety of children and young people under direct or indirect supervision.
* Handle calls, record referral details into the electronic record system, and support with support‑worker shifts at different sites.
* Assist in delivering therapeutic interventions, including planning and implementing a care package for the child, young person and family under indirect supervision from Mental Health Practitioners and RAIS Clinical Coordinators.
* Attend assessments with qualified staff on a rota basis.
* Contribute to holistic assessment and care planning, monitoring individuals and working clinically autonomously, giving 1:1 contact on a regular basis.
* Assist with mental health assessment of children and young people admitted to the Children’s Medical Unit following self‑harm, and support follow‑up as needed.
Person Specification
* GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
* Care experience in mental health or equivalent.
* Ability to develop professional relationships.
* Confident in dealing with people over telephone and face‑to‑face.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
* Team player with strong IT skills.
* Access to private transport for work purposes.

Pay: £27,485 to £30,162 per annum (Band 4)
