Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated dietitian to join the inpatient mental health dietetics team in Derbyshire. This is a band 6 role, but we welcome applications from dietitians new to the NHS for a band 5 role, supported by a structured competency framework to develop knowledge and skills for progression to a band 6 specialist role.
The postholder will provide specialist dietetics services to mental health inpatient units, deliver training, supervise dietetic students, apprentices, and assistants, and contribute to service development projects. Support will be provided by a friendly team committed to supervision and CPD.
The position is based at Kingsway Hospital in Derby, with weekly travel to Radbourne unit and Chesterfield sites (Derwent Unit and Walton Hospital). Travel expenses are included, and flexibility in location may be required for caseload management and coverage.
Main Duties
As a Specialist Inpatient Mental Health Dietitian, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based mental health nutrition and dietetic services across the Trust, primarily at four inpatient sites in Derbyshire. You will manage referrals related to nutrition support, weight management, diabetes, and eating disorders, liaising with other services for complex cases. You will ensure continuity of care across inpatient and community pathways, advise healthcare professionals, and deliver nutritional training.
