Commercialisation Manager - Ceres Agri-Tech West Cambridge | Salary from £60,900 | Fixed Term (initially to 2028) – Full Time | Hybrid 3 days in office Help shape a national initiative at the forefront of agri-tech innovation. This is a rare opportunity to play a foundational role in establishing a new, multi-institutional national tech transfer office (TTO). As Commercialisation Manager at Ceres Agri-Tech, you’ll be part of a dynamic collaboration between the Universities of Cambridge, Lincoln and East Anglia, working to translate cutting-edge research into real-world commercial solutions. Led by the University of Lincoln and supported by £5 million in government funding, Ceres is developing a new, sustainable model for delivering commercialisation support across multiple institutions. You’ll help shape the structures, systems and partnerships that will underpin its long-term success. You’ll be employed by Cambridge Enterprise and embedded in a collaborative team that spans academic, legal and commercial professionals from across the partnership. Your day-to-day work will involve many different activities: Commercialisation Leadership – Develop and implement core TTO processes including IP protection, licensing and contracting. Cross-Institution Collaboration – Work with legal and commercial teams across Cambridge, Lincoln and UEA to build consistent, compliant systems. Academic Engagement – Support researchers with the practical steps needed to progress spin-outs, licensing deals and translational projects. Portfolio Development – Manage a growing portfolio of research-derived assets from the Ceres, LINCAM and Agri-Tech Global partnerships. Operational Design – Help design legal agreements, workflows and governance structures that underpin a sustainable TTO model. Strategic Planning – Contribute to business plans, regulatory insight and sustainability strategies for long-term institutional success. Stakeholder Engagement – Build relationships with commercial partners, investors, growers, start-ups, funders and civic organisations. Knowledge Exchange – Help deliver workshops, commercialisation training and on-farm demonstrations. Diligence and Compliance – Conduct IP due diligence and maintain accurate records for legal and audit requirements. Sector Insight – Stay up to date with legal, scientific and commercial developments in agri-tech and share best practice. What we’re looking for: Significant experience in technology transfer and managing IP-related agreements and commercialisation processes. A degree or higher qualification in a scientific or technical field – a PhD is desirable. A strong understanding of how research organisations operate and what motivates their researchers. Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the confidence to lead discussions across legal, academic and commercial contexts. A practical, solutions-focused approach and the ability to manage complex projects across multiple institutions. Sound judgement and attention to detail when working on contracts, agreements and intellectual property. A collaborative mindset and the ability to build trust across sectors and disciplines. We’d also value: Experience in the plant agri-tech sector Technical knowledge of gene editing, AI, or software-based innovation Experience working across multi-university or national partnerships Understanding of relevant commercial, compliance or regulatory issues in research translation Why Cambridge Enterprise?
