Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Sales Estimator to join our team. This hybrid role combines estimating industrial and roller shutter doors with actively sourcing and developing new business opportunities. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving revenue growth while ensuring accurate, competitive quotations for clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Estimating Responsibilities:
o Prepare accurate and detailed quotations for industrial and roller shutter door projects, including materials, labour, and installation
o Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and site requirements to produce cost-effective estimates
o Conduct site surveys when required to assess measurements, access, and installation conditions
o Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams to clarify project requirements
o Source and negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors
o Ensure all estimates align with company pricing strategies and margin targets
* Business Development Responsibilities:
o Identify and pursue new sales opportunities in commercial, industrial, and construction markets
o Develop and maintain relationships with prospective clients, architects, contractors, and consultants
o Follow up on leads and respond to enquiries promptly
o Prepare proposals and presentations to secure new business
o Attend networking events, trade shows, and industry forums to generate leads
o Work closely with the sales and estimating team to convert opportunities into confirmed orders
* General Responsibilities:
o Maintain accurate records of estimates, proposals, and client interactions
o Stay up to date with industry trends, products, and competitors
o Support senior management with market insights and reporting
Key Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in sales estimating or business development within industrial, commercial, or construction sectors
* Strong understanding of industrial and roller shutter door systems
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
* Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
* Strong communication, negotiation, and customer service abilities
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with CRM or estimating software is advantageous
* Ability to manage multiple projects, quotations, and sales opportunities simultaneously
Qualifications
* Relevant qualification in engineering, construction, or business (preferred but not essential)
* Industry-specific training or certifications are advantageous
* Full driving licence (required for site visits and client meetings – company vehicle provided)
