The Mace consult Legal Team provides expert legal support to the Mace consult business globally, across our four hubs in Europe, MEA, APAC and the Americas. The legal team is predominantly based at our headquarters in Moorgate, London, and operates in a fast-paced, commercial environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a pragmatic, commercial approach to law, with strong expertise around infrastructure delivery and in the construction industry generally an advantage. This role works closely with commercial stakeholders, embedding Mace’s governance in contracting processes, and operates with autonomy and confidence. This role is suitable for a qualified lawyer with experience in either private practice or in-house environments. Location\: Moorgate, London. You’ll be responsible for: Contract review, negotiation and drafting \: Managing the review, negotiation, and drafting of contracts and legal agreements for projects, including consultancy appointments, joint venture agreements, supply chain agreements, and ancillary documentation (NDAs, collateral warranties, PCGs, performance bonds, sub-consultant contracts). Risk management \: Identifying and advise on legal and commercial risks in client tenders and project documentation. Support the business in managing insurance risks and claims. Stakeholder engagement \: Liaise closely with commercial teams, project teams, and senior stakeholders to manage contract processes from review to signing and provide ongoing advisory support throughout the project lifecycle. Training and development \: Deliver training programmes to colleagues on legal and contractual risks. Contribute to updating precedent documents and templates and supporting the development of other team members. Dispute resolution \: Managing actions in dispute situations, including claims and contentious matters, and working with external lawyers and insurance brokers as required. Regulatory compliance \: Spotting issues and support projects and subject matter experts with regulatory compliance issues, including conflicts of interest, anti-bribery, data protection, modern slavery, health and safety, and regulated procurement. Continuous improvement \: Contributing process improvements and championing data-led approaches to risk management. You’ll need to have: Qualified lawyer in England and Wales or relevant jurisdiction. Strong technical legal knowledge and commercial understanding of the agreements in use for construction and infrastructure delivery. Working knowledge of industry standard contracts (NEC, JCT, FIDIC). Excellent negotiation and drafting skills. Legal professional standard of English (written and spoken). Ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-technical audiences. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively as part of a busy team. Experience in more than one jurisdiction where Mace operates. Experience with contentious construction matters, disputes, and claims avoidance. Familiarity with regulatory environments (building safety acts, public procurement, etc.). Experience working with defence, aviation, civil nuclear, sports and events or other Mace markets. Additional languages relevant to Mace’s global operations (e.g., Arabic, Spanish).
