The Role

The Chief Powertrain Engineer is a strategic leader with a strong technical background responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of innovative powertrain systems in the motorcycle industry. As a key stakeholder, you will provide technical direction and lead multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success from concept through production.

This role requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills to drive results, foster cohesive teams, and deliver high-performance powertrain solutions aligned with company objectives.

Responsibilities

1. Strategic Technical Oversight: Lead the development and integration of advanced powertrain technologies, setting high standards for performance, efficiency, and reliability.
2. Benchmarking: Conduct comprehensive benchmarking against industry standards and competitors to identify performance metrics and emerging trends.
3. Project Management: Manage project timelines and milestones, collaborating with cross-functional teams for seamless execution.
4. Engineering Governance: Review and approve technical drawings, designs, and specifications, ensuring quality and standards compliance.
5. Innovation: Drive adoption of new materials, manufacturing methods, and powertrain technologies to maintain industry leadership.
6. Team Development: Mentor engineers, fostering technical expertise and professional growth within the team.
7. Design Reviews: Facilitate technical reviews to ensure designs meet functional and project requirements.
8. Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary technical liaison internally and externally, communicating project goals and challenges effectively.

Personal Qualifications

* Strong understanding of motorcycle principles and mechanics
* Proven leadership in technical teams, inspiring innovation and collaboration
* Hands-on engineering experience
* Minimum 10 years in Automotive Engineering
* Experience in a similar leadership role
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
* Pro-E or CREO experience is a plus
* Knowledge of Powertrain interactions with chassis and electronics
* Understanding of DFM and DFA principles
* Experience working with suppliers on component sourcing and integration
* Familiarity with materials and manufacturing processes
