Perinatal Mental Health Service Team Lead

The Perinatal Team Lead sits within the CAMHS & Specialised Services Directorate. The post holder will be responsible for managing a multidisciplinary team and will provide leadership in relation to providing expert advice and specialist knowledge in relation to individuals who meet the service criteria.
The team leader will manage a team of staff that could include Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Support Workers and Medical Staff.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will function as an autonomous practitioner working independently of and in conjunction with other members of the perinatal mental health service.
The post holder will provide expert advice and specialist nursing knowledge to women who meet the criteria for inclusion into the perinatal mental health service based on skilled and comprehensive assessment.
As an autonomous practitioner, the post holder has significant discretion to work within sets of defined parameters.
Providing clinical leadership and acting as a role model to peers and colleagues alike.
Establishes and maintains standard of care in line with Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB policies and procedures.
Represents the Senior Nurse at meetings/professional nursing forums as requested by the Senior Nurse.
The post holder will also be accountable for their own professional actions and be guided by broad occupational policies
Ordering appropriate investigations in keeping with operational protocols.
Refer to specialist services using agreed referral guidelines/criteria.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Knowledge
* Registered Professional i.e Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist.
* Evidence of post-registration Continuing Professional Development.
* Masters level equivalency knowledge, education and skills training.
* Advanced specialist knowledge of Speciality.
* Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Measures.
* Knowledge of Adult Protection and Child Protection policies and procedures.
* Knowledge of Clinical Governance and its application in practice. Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control Procedures.
* Ability to demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and awareness of current evidence base relevant to the area of practice.
* Working knowledge of Welsh Government Strategy, NSF and NICE Guidelines.
* Teaching and Assessing qualification.
* Awareness of wider health and social care agenda.
* Knowledge of audit tools.
Experience
* Substantial post-registration experience including both in-patient and community care settings working with patients with perinatal mental health issues.
* Evidence of achievement in clinical practice within the area of speciality - community mental health/perinatal mental health.
* Clinical and theoretical teaching in a range of contexts.
* Working knowledge of Clinical Governance.
* Evidence of implementing innovation and change in clinical practice.
* Evidence of undertaking clinical audit and/or research in clinical practice.
* Experience in a range of clinical settings.
