Role overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Head of MFL to join our school in January 2026. We are looking to appoint a talented professional with very good subject knowledge and a clear understanding of effective and engaging teaching and learning to lead our capable and supportive department. At Wombourne High School we highly value personal attributes of hard work, positivity and kindness, and we are looking for staff who can model these values.
The successful candidate should be an outstanding classroom practitioner who can build on current developments within the school and Trust, to continue to improve outcomes and raise aspirations for all students. Currently, all students study either French or Spanish at KS3. At KS4 we offer GCSE courses in both French and Spanish. MFL is a popular subject, and uptake at GCSE is strong. The department is well resourced. The ability to teach both languages to GCSE level would be advantageous but is not compulsory.
