Assistant Plan Co-ordinator Location: Barnsley Client: Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council Contract Type: Temporary (3 months) Hours: Full time (37 hours) Salary: £15.66 per hour (Umbrella) About the Role: The Assistant Plan Co-ordinator will manage the SEND Consultation process, supporting statutory duties related to children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The role involves high-level administrative responsibilities and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Support the implementation of statutory duties regarding Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Respond to customer enquiries across multiple channels, including sensitive and safeguarding-related issues. Provide advice and guidance on SEN processes to stakeholders. Promote digital transformation through the Council’s online portal. Administer statutory assessment panels, including tracking, minute-taking, and action dissemination. Handle procurement tasks and financial queries. Prepare documentation for panels, appeals, and tribunals. Manage complaints and challenging customer interactions professionally. Contribute to service development and team support. Process applications for needs assessments and EHCPs. Maintain stakeholder relationships and produce reports/statistics. Manage workloads and ensure timely responses. Maintain accurate electronic records and data. Experience & Knowledge Experience working with legal/statutory processes and deadlines. Background in local government or large organisations. Handling confidential and sensitive information. Communicating effectively with diverse audiences. Managing demanding workloads and providing guidance. Data analysis and report production. Knowledge of relevant government services and policies. Understanding of the Data Protection Act and confidentiality. Overview of services for children, young people, and families.
