Job Description
We are recruiting for a Customs Administrator at Muller UK & Ireland, based at our Market Drayton head office, for a fixed term of 15 months. You will assist in collating data, verifying information, and liaising with colleagues and third parties to ensure the timely submission of import and export customs declarations. You will manage daily operational and administrative tasks to support the Customs Team, which provides 7-day coverage for customs declarations.
Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on a rota basis (7am-3pm, 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm), with occasional Saturdays. Hybrid working (3 days on-site) will be available after training.
Key Responsibilities
Customs Compliance - Exports
* Liaise with Culina to prepare export documentation and obtain export health certificates.
* Prepare export instructions and pro forma invoices.
* Apply for batch export health certificates to ensure supply continuity.
* Coordinate with customs brokers, vets, hauliers, and authorities to ensure correct documentation within deadlines.
* Monitor export email inbox, resolve queries, and escalate as needed.
* Prepare shipments of samples, coordinate with R&D, book with courier, and provide paperwork.
* Complete supplementary declarations monthly on the TSS portal.
* Support onboarding and training of new team members.
* Assist senior colleagues with ad hoc tasks and projects.
Customs Compliance - Imports
* Review supplier information and prepare import instructions.
* Monitor deliveries, liaise with internal teams and suppliers to prevent delays.
* Handle queries via email or escalate to the Customs Adviser.
* Provide clearance info to parcel operators.
* Complete paperwork for re-export of returned goods.
* Support data collection and information requests as needed.
* Monitor UK Global Tariff changes and document updates.
Other Tasks
* Verify purchase invoices, add GL codes, and process GRNs.
* Raise purchase requisitions and process invoices.
* Assign commodity codes to new materials daily.
* Support training of new team members.
* Maintain process documentation for audits.
Skills and Experience
* 1-2 years' experience in a customs environment.
* Proficient in Word and Excel.
* Training will be provided.
* Knowledge of tax legislation updates.
* High accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize.
* Proactive, resourceful, and adaptable.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
