As a Consultant Psychiatrist in Liaison Psychiatry based at William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, you will deliver high-quality clinical services and contribute to the strategic development of the team and broader services.
East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust is a large acute hospital trust providing a comprehensive range of services to the population of East Kent. The Liaison Psychiatry Service offers a single point of contact for the mental health needs of patients attending the Emergency Department or admitted to the hospital.
Main duties of the job
* Provide psychiatric care to patients referred to the Liaison Psychiatry Service.
* Offer professional and clinical leadership to the Liaison Multidisciplinary Team.
* Supervise medical staff and lead the Liaison MDT.

Qualifications and requirements
* Valid UK driving licence or alternative evidence.
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
* On the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of eligibility.
* Approved Clinician status or ability to attain within 3 months.
* Approved under S12 or eligible within 3 months.
Desirable criteria
* Good standing with GMC regarding warnings and conditions.
* Additional clinical qualifications, MRCPsych, or higher degrees in education, research, or management.
Clinical Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
* Excellent knowledge and skills in psychiatry, with a bio-psycho-social approach.
* Strong communication skills in English.
* Ability to manage complex clinical situations and make evidence-based decisions.
* Competence in legal frameworks like MHA and MCA.
Academic Skills and Lifelong Learning
* Experience in teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
* Leadership and collaborative working skills.
* Commitment to CPD, research, audit, and service improvement.
