Overview
Physiotherapist on the Critical Care Unit at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford. Part of the Therapy team led by Band 7 Physiotherapists with a clinical lead, supported by an MDT including Occupational Therapists. The role offers the opportunity to work in a new state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit.
Responsibilities
* Provide respiratory physiotherapy to acutely unwell patients on the Critical Care Unit.
* Teach and support junior staff and work with all MDT members involved with these patients.
* Deliver a seven-day service to the unit and participate in the Trust Respiratory Physiotherapy On-call rota.
* Deputise for the Team Leader on clinical and managerial issues and contribute to Departmental training.
Qualifications
* Essential: Physiotherapy degree; HCPC registration.
* Desirable: CSP membership; membership of a clinical specialty interest group.
Skills and Experience
* Essential: Well-developed respiratory physiotherapy assessment and treatment skills; excellent communication; ability to supervise and teach junior staff or students; ability to prioritise and delegate a clinical caseload; use clinical reasoning in managing a Critical Care patient.
* Desirable: Leadership ability in absence of senior; good leadership skills.
Knowledge
* Essential: Knowledge of the role of Physiotherapy in Critical Care; MDT roles in Critical Care; up-to-date evidence-based practice; use of outcome measures in clinical practice.
* Desirable: Knowledge of ventilator and tracheostomy weaning in Critical Care.
Additional Information
* Band 6, Permanent, Full-time with flexible working patterns. Salary: £38,682 to £46,580 per annum.
