Trust Doctor (equivalent to FY1 level) in Gastroenterology, Fixed Term Contract – 4 months, at Whipps Cross Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust. Current full GMC registration essential. Availability to commence working in April 2026 required.

Job Responsibilities

We are seeking to appoint a Trust Doctor (FY1 equivalent level) to join the friendly department. The vacant Gastro post will cover a training gap in service specifically for the period from 01 April 2026 for 4 months until 04 August 2026 and will be considered for an extension if other vacancies subsequently become available. The successful candidate will be working alongside the Gastroenterology team to provide clinical care to patients while also using the post as a learning forum to maintain good medical practice, and to strive towards maintaining one's own personal development through learning, teaching and managerial opportunities.


Person Specification


Qualifications and Knowledge

* MB ChB or equivalent
* Full GMC Registration


Experience

* Familiarity with the UK NHS structure
* Enthusiasm and ability to work under pressure
* Caring attitude to patients


Personal Attributes

* Good communication skills both written and verbal
* Able to work within a multidisciplinary team
* Commitment to quality care


Desirable

* Involvement in clinical audit
* Ability to organise own CPD
* Enthusiasm in teaching medical students and nurses


Specific Requirements

* Post holder will be required to work shifts, on call, flexible hours
