As part of continued growth, a Tier 1 civil engineering contractor is recruiting a Lead Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding Water Division on a recently awarded energy and utilities infrastructure project .
This role offers an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Quantity Surveyor the opportunity to step into a senior leadership position with fast-track progression to Commercial Manager .

While this role sits within the Water Division, the wider group has a strong footprint across civil engineering, utilities, rail, aviation, and construction .
The Role Lead Managing Quantity Surveyor
Reporting to the Regional Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the overall commercial performance of the project while leading and developing a high-performing commercial team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, mentor, and support the commercial team (training, coaching, appraisals, and development)
* Encourage collaboration between Commercial and Project Management teams
* Agree, monitor, and review personal objectives across the commercial function
* Provide contractual and commercial advice to the operations and delivery teams
* Manage, review, and expand the subcontractor supply chain
* Raise and manage new subcontracts, ensuring compliance with governance procedures
* Carry out subcontract evaluations, assess applications for payment, and authorise payments
* Work closely with the Operational Lead to ensure accurate commercial reporting, identify risk, and maximise commercial opportunities
Experience Required
* HNC / BSc in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
* Minimum 6 years experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Quantity Surveyor
* Background in civil engineering, water, utilities, or infrastructure projects
* Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract
* Experience gained with a Tier 1 main contractor or reputable subcontractor
* Stable career history with proven leadership capability
