Overview
At Ar Curam we have our 4 bed home in Scotland with an established sister company in England with a further 6 homes and developments in the pipeline. We provide care, support and accommodation for children and young people with complex needs, aged between 8-17 years old in small residential care homes where we aim to achieve excellent outcomes for the children and young people in our care. We currently have opportunities to join our team on both day and night shift and could also benefit from additional bank workers able to provide ad hoc support.
Applicants must be passionate about effecting long term change in the lives of vulnerable children and young people by providing essential support that enables them to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
* Actively and effectively safeguarding and promoting the rights of children and young people.
* Teaching life skills and coping strategies, building confidence, self-esteem and resilience.
* Accompanying young people to and from education, facilitating family time, and creating a warm, comforting and homely environment including all daily household tasks.
* Encouraging participation in local activities and hobbies.
* Monitoring, recording and completing all relevant paperwork involved with the young person’s care accurately.
* Demonstrating good IT literacy to support documentation and administrative tasks.
Requirements and Qualifications
* You will be motivated, empathetic and understanding, able to establish and build nurturing, meaningful relationships to understand the young person’s views, wishes and feelings and effectively advocate for them.
* Ideally you will have experience of working with children, or transferable skills to communicate effectively and form positive relationships with young people, parent/carers and other professionals.
* Ideally you will possess an SVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People coupled with an HNC in Social Services (or higher/accepted equivalent aligned with SSSC requirements) or the ability and commitment to gain these qualifications whilst in post. * Successful applicants are required to register with the SSSC and maintain the conditions of registration throughout employment.
* Due to the needs of the home at this time, a full driving licence is essential to undertake the full duties, including accompanying young people on outings, meetings or responding to emergency situations. Applicants without a driving licence/ability to drive will be considered in line with balancing the team’s needs and the Equality Act. Company cars are provided for work duties.
* Those without a driving licence may be considered if a suitable balance with team needs can be achieved.
