Generative artificial intelligence (AI) describes algorithms that can be used to produce new content, including audio, code, images, text, simulations, and videos. It is developing all the time and is now being used as a support mechanism for all kinds of content-based creations. The purpose of this post is to actively participate in the smooth running of the clinical trials unit, working flexibly across trial co-ordination and patient identification, entry and follow-up within a clinical trial setting. As an experienced trial co-ordinator, you will manage more complex studies, facilitating and supporting more junior team members.
The post holder will be involved in all aspects of trial coordination and management supporting the clinical team throughout the trial process. The post holder will be a flexible, motivated team player and will have a good understanding of clinical trials and research generally and the role of a trial coordinator. The post holder will work closely with the Research and Innovation (R&I) department in the set-up of non-commercial and industry-sponsored studies and be responsible of overall coordination of their trials. In liaison with the R&I department, the post holder will also support the coordination of investigator-led studies and where applicable act as lead with regard to ethics submission and coordination of other studies involving other centres.

This role requires initiative, accuracy and attention to detail. You will be in contact with a broad professional group, as well as members of the public and research sponsors; you will be expected to represent the Trust at all times. Therefore, good communication skills are essential. All work will be carried out in accordance to ICH-GCP, S.I.1031, the Data Protection Act, GDPR and Research Governance, as well as local Standard Operating Procedures and Policies. Thus, an in-depth knowledge of the requirements of these is necessary. Occasional travel to investigator/development meetings and training/conferences will be expected.
The post holder will be a flexible, motivated team player and will have a keen interest in pursuing a wider knowledge and understanding of clinical research and Cardiology. The role will be involved with all aspects of study co-ordination and management.
The role will require working on site at all times and is considered physical due to the need to deal with study devices, blood specimens, collecting/carrying IMPs and move/transfer folders when archiving. Face to face contact is key for the success of this role as it requires coordination of all studies with the core research team and MDT.
