We are currently looking for a Financial Accounting Assistant to support the Senior Financial Accountants. The team take responsibility for the running of the Company's financial accounting function, property accounting, fixed assets, statutory reporting, group accounting, tax and treasury and this role will pay a key part in assisting with month-end.

The Role
To work with the Senior Financial Accountants and the rest of the finance team to ensure that key aspects of the Company's financial accounting processes are appropriately administered, and information is available in a timely fashion.
Close off the Company's ledgers within agreed timescales and ensure that all key balance sheet control accounts have been reconciled and approved on a monthly basis.
Assist with Northern Ireland goods inwards regulatory submissions.
Managing Duty Control, including duty checks, HMRC postings, invoice validation, and month-end reconciliation.
Managing the intercompany process, including reports, ICO journals, variance resolution, and period-end reconciliation.
Supporting annual budget preparation, including phasing and analysis.
Supporting vendor setup, banking updates, and credit card administration .
Managing accruals and prepayments for company compliance costs, ensuring accurate month-end reporting.
Reviewing and validating commodity codes to ensure accurate classification and compliance.
Support the insurance renewal processes. Supporting insurance accounting through accurate invoice review and journal posting.
Supporting commission and holiday commission calculations and postings.
Responsible for Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT) accruals and supporting quarterly submissions and payments.
Support the accurate reporting of Trade Debtor and Trade Creditor balances.
Management and reporting of the Group's Fixed Assets for monthly and annual reporting.
Supporting IFRS 16 compliance through lease cost assessment and assistance with ROUA adjustments and journals.
Supporting National Statistics submissions relating to Fixed Assets.
Monthly management accounting responsibilities.
Work with external auditors to ensure robust group and subsidiary statutory accounts are produced within the required timescales.
Preparation of monthly balance sheet accounts.
Ensure that the Senior Financial Accountants and Financial Controller are well appraised of the Company's financial position and support with other ad-hoc tasks.
Ensure appropriate processes exist within the finance team to identify key areas of risk and agree with the Senior Financial Accountants appropriate plans to manage those risks.
Work with auditors and external parties to ensure that core accounting controls are appropriate and consistently implemented.

The Person

Essential
Part qualified accountant.
Interested in technical accounting and a desire to develop in this area.
Good communication skills on both a one-to-one basis and in a group environment.
Keen to broaden skillset in the other areas of responsibility of the wider Financial Accounting team.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including the use of Pivot Tables and formulas such as VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP and SUMIF .

Desirable
Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Dynamics.
Experience of liaising with external providers such as banks and auditors.
Good working knowledge of accounting systems and monthly accounts process - general ledger, purchase ledger, sales ledger, monthly accounts process, balance sheet reconciliations, reporting.
