To work as a team member providing support to Medical and Nursing Staff as required. The post will include clinical chaperoning, phlebotomy, and microscopy (when trained). Responsibilities include setting up and closing down the clinical area, maintaining stock levels, and supporting clerical duties to build a flexible workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preparation of examination rooms and the clinical environment in accordance with the Trust's infection control policy to ensure the patient/clinic environment is clean and safe.
2. Assisting with examinations, as directed by the clinician.
3. Chaperone procedures as directed by the clinician.
4. Phlebotomy with training.
5. Microscopy with training.
6. Facilitate Test & Go asymptomatic testing lists.
7. Recording routine observations (e.g., weight, blood pressure, temperature).
8. Assisting patients with dressing, undressing, and mobility, in accordance with manual handling policies.
9. Establishing and maintaining effective communication with the multidisciplinary team.
10. Removing debris and soiled linen after each clinic to prevent cross-infection, in compliance with Trust policy.
11. Providing cover during staff absence due to holiday or sickness.
12. Maintaining stock items.
13. Dealing with telephone calls courteously.
14. Assisting with essential nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
15. Promoting patient independence and self-management.
16. Explaining the patient journey and examination procedures.
17. Understanding normal results and reporting abnormal findings to a qualified nurse.
18. Supervising the maintenance of clinical rooms and ensuring cleanliness after each clinic.
19. Taking responsibility for stock maintenance in conjunction with the lead nurse.
