Overview

We have an exciting role on offer within our Children’s Services team as a Residential Support Worker.

About Us

Are you passionate about caring for children and young people living in Middlesbrough? If yes, we need you. We are seeking to recruit a suitable person to work within our Children’s Home Willow Tree.

The home provides care for a small number of children and young people who, for a variety of reasons, cannot currently live with their families. The home is situated in the Middlesbrough area.

The successful candidates will provide a high quality of care and support, which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, behavioural, health, social and cultural needs of the children and families for whom the home provides a service. This will include working with children with very challenging behaviour, complex emotional problems, mental health disorders and other additional/special needs.

The successful candidate will be based initially in Willow Tree Children’s home however you will have opportunity to experience all of MBC children’s homes and will be expected to be prepared to work and support in these homes as needed, or to work with children who are living in the community or within their own homes.


Responsibilities

The Residential Support Worker will:

- Provide high quality care and support addressing the physical, emotional, intellectual, behavioural, health, social and cultural needs of the children and families served by the home.

- Work with children and young people who may present with challenging behaviour, complex emotional problems, mental health disorders and other additional/special needs.

- Support therapeutic approaches and restorative practices to help children thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.

- Be prepared to work across Willow Tree and other MBC children’s homes, as well as with children living in the community or in their own homes as required.

- Demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively with young people.


Qualifications

Applicants must:

* Have a recognised QCF level 3 diploma in Residential care in working with children and young people or an equivalent qualification or a willingness to undertake.
* Experience of working with children and young people.
* An understanding of child development and challenging behaviour.
* A positive attitude and the ability to work with young people.

You will also be required to work unsocial hours - including weekends, bank holidays and nights. A Full UK Driving License is a requirement for this post.
