The Role
We are seeking two Transport Planners / Coordinators to manage the daily planning and scheduling of our vehicle operations – one within our 8-wheel Tipper fleet (at Wick Quarry, BS30 5SJ) and one within our RoRo fleet (at Saltersford Lane, SN14 0RN).
These roles are key in ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective transport services while maintaining high standards of customer service and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and optimise daily routes in line with operational and customer requirements.
* Allocate, upload, and manage tickets using transport management systems (e.g. Weighsoft, Tachomaster).
* Communicate schedules, updates, and changes to drivers in real time.
* Monitor workloads, compliance (WTD, EU Driving laws), and fleet movements.
* Ensure timely completion of collections, deliveries, and exchanges.
* Maintain accurate transport records, timesheets, and retorque logs.
* Coordinate with customer service and operational teams to resolve issues promptly.
* Support route optimisation, downtime analysis, and cost control.
* Assist with P&L reporting, driver hours, and asset utilisation reviews.
Who you are
You are organised, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced transport environment. You have experience in transport planning or fleet coordination and can confidently manage HGV drivers while ensuring compliance and efficiency.
Key Skills and Qualifications
* Experience in transport planning, logistics, or fleet management.
* Familiarity with vehicle routing systems and transport management software.
* Strong knowledge of local geography and road networks.
* Understanding of WTD, EU Driving regulations, and health & safety standards.
* Proficient in MS Office (Excel, email) and relevant industry systems.
* Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Desirable: Experience in waste management or construction industries, CPC qualification, and basic P&L understanding.
